This past weekend was finally eventful enough to get my creativity cranking again. Me and one of my best friends recently decided we needed a bit more excitement on the weekends. So we decided to kick it old school and start paintballing again. With the help of some quick eBay purchases, we are back in the game.
I had forgot the rush that this game gives you. Also, I have enjoyed creating the paintball field we are currently playing on. We still need to convince more people to get involved but something tells me with my sales skills I can make it happen in a short period of time. I am sure there will be more to come on the paintball situation, possibly even some YouTube uploads. If you have any interest in playing with us hit us up on Twitter (@BrockTRoberts @DGriffith40 @HLMoore26 @762sniper)
On top of all that I also had a great Sat. night with @CTar04 and continued that on through to his boy's 2nd Birthday party. It never fails. It seems that the summer fun never starts getting going until the end of the summer. Better late than never I suppose.
Time for the deep part of this entry. As I am sure you all have heard from me before, if you're an avid reader of these blogs, get out there and do something! Start something and don't be stagnant. Always stay positive though. People would be a lot more happy if they wouldn't dwell on what they could do and become proactive and just go do it. If it doesn't work out, so what you tired. That is the true key to success it's not getting it right every time. It's the fulfillment in pursuing what makes you happy and no matter what the outcome knowing you tried.

The guy I use to be..
It's interesting to look back on your life and reflect on who you use to be. Where you came from and where you went. Weather it be good or bad, I feel reflection is always a great thing. It gives you a value of you self worth.
Now I hope this isn't a depressing thought for any of you. My goal with this is to either inspire some of you to get your life together, or to make some of you happy by looking at the prides and joys that lead to your successes.
My life has been a combination of both, successes and disappointments, as I feel most of the world's inhabitants have in common with me. The way I have always been geared though is to try my hardest to leave the past lay and only use it as a perspective on how to handle present and future situations. If it is something I am particularly proud of I think of what it took me to get to that success and try to repeat the process on my future endeavors. Then I focus on the reciprocal for the negative things in my past and use it as a pivot point of what not to repeat. Now, I know it's only human nature to repeat some mistakes over. But, the goal is to work against repeating them and eventually overcoming them. Lately I have been thinking of how I felt back in Jr. High School. Free, or at least with very minimal inhibitions. I felt like I could achieve anything "on top of the world", if you will. Then, after some adversity in sports, challenges with grades, difficulty finding work, issues with friends and a few terrible love relationships later, I found myself lacking the feeling of ease I once had.
So lately I am reflecting back to my younger self. Trying to push to get back in the frame of mind where no matter what comes at me I'm king of my destiny and can conquer anything. Not to erase the hard lessons of the past but to know they are over and I've learned from them. I hope you all can relate and can find they strength from your past and present to be kings and queens of your own life and conquer it!

Let's Go!!
I know it has been a while since I last blogged again! But, work has picked up more and it puts a crunch on both my creative thinking and my time. I figured I would turn off the DVR long enough to head back to the office, crank the tunes and see what I come up with.
Lately, with my sales and accounts boosting on my full time job, I haven't had much time to focus on my design work. Which many would view as a good thing, I am sure. But, right now I am in that phase where I'm torn between what I am doing and what I would love to do. I've always been an advocate of making a career out of what you love to do!
While I am a good people person and do have the skills to be a good sales person, it is not what I love to do. I really would like to focus more on the design aspects of advertising than the sales part. In my current position I am more directed towards setting up new accounts and generating ad sales for those clients.
I am going to make a push to start doing more design work on the side and I am sure it will require less sleep and more caffeine. But, I never hit the lotto and I usually lose money when I go to the casino, so I have always known it wont be easy. What's the famous quote? "When you want to succeed as bad as you want to breathe, then you will be successful." We will see how well I can take on both tasks.
I am not a huge fan of rap but I heard something a while back that inspired me so hopefully it will do the same for you. When 50 Cent was working on his movie "Get Rich Or Die Trying" he was also working on a new album and writing a book. When asked "When do you have time to sleep?" He responded, "Sleep? Sleep is for those people who are broke. I don't sleep, I got an opportunity to make a dream become a reality." If everyone could adopt this idea, including myself, life would be what it's meant to be!

Odd lesson to be learned.. From a dog
Everyday when I come home my two dogs bounce off the walls in excitement. It really made me start thinking, when I left this morning did they think "he isn't coming back.. No!!!" Not only did this make me sad in a way but it made me wish I was this way more often with people I care about. Because you honestly never know what may happen in life.
Not to sound like a creepy shut in animal hoarder, but we really can learn a lot from our pets. If you have friends and family that treat you well take the time to notice that and give them the same respect. So, I guess in short this is a recognition blog to all those who support me, back me up, don't talk about me behind my back and just are there to trust and lend a hand when you need it. Thanks to you all and I hope to always repay your kindness!
On a side note don't be afraid to speak your mind and say what you need to say <-- (thanks John Mayer).. Enjoy!

Social Reconstruction
In an age where technology is king I feel people are losing the ability physically connect with others. Now, don't get me wrong this is a blog and an attempt to connect with you on a technology based level. However, it is also my challenge for our generation. I made a personal goal for myself a few years ago to make sure that every day I make at least one new contact. Also, let me specify this doesn't mean a new follower on twitter, a new contact on LinkedIn or a new friend on Facebook. It means an actual face to face conversation with another person and often times a shake of the hand saying "nice to meet you". I understand a lot of you don't have a job like mine that entitles you to meeting a lot of new people on a daily basis. But, I challenge you to at least twice a week make small talk with someone whether it be, standing in line at the store or just randomly to someone new at work. Go out and make some real connections with real people! You have no idea the amazing stories you'll hear and great people you'll meet!

Counting steps..
Many times a day I think about all the times in my history that I have went right instead of left and vise versa. I wonder what the next step would have been had I taken the other route? After finally realizing the past turns I have made can not be retraced and can not be made over, I can focus on the paths currently laying in front of me.
Focus on the future and your legacy is the best advice I could ever give someone. The only question I now have is how to approach that future? I don't see satisfaction in counting my steps and plotting out the route I should take. I feel like the most gratifying way of approaching the future may not be on a linear path after all. Could it be that the more vertical the way the better it feels? Instead of counting out the steps to the future I think I need to simply find a goal and leap! "Greater risk, greater reward" is the only fear that is holding me back because along with that statement comes "greater chance of failure" and that is something none of us like to hear. Although the path to success is never an easy choice.

Let's try this again!
Almost another year gone by and I am yet again attempting the blog thing! I think this time in attempt to keep my head in it I will keep these posts a bit smaller and less like an essay. I am making an effort to become fully engrossed in social media and networking. I feel that in this day and age it's the only way to be heard.
Year in review; As you already know I am going to start trying to at the very least put out a monthly blog. I also have revamped my Twitter and Facebook to be a little more exciting and "inspirational, humorous, informative, etc.." I am trying hard not to just do the typical "Brock is driving around and looking at stuff". I noticed especially this year that I was getting 1000 updates a day on my news feed recently about "finals suck" and "one more to go". It made me realize no one cares haha. I feel like if my status or posts can't make someone laugh or give some sort of something to the viewer then I don't need to post it.
Anyway.. I also joined LinkedIn which is great for those of you seeking business ins and outs! Great info on companies and it also gives you a way to see who does what at those various companies. Also, those of you looking for jobs search around on LinkedIn see if it helps you.
I have also given thought to starting a YouTube page. The only thing is I need to put some effort into thinking out what type of page I would want to start. YouTube is an insanely quick way of getting recognition if it's done right and if you're passionate about what you do.. (Insert plug for Cory07Ink here) <-- seriously he is taking all the right steps to be successful at this YouTube thing.
Lastly, the explanation for this recent resurgence of the blog is because I have recently been approached by a few companies asking me if I would like to lay out a social media plan for them and possibly operate it for them on a contractual basis. I feel like in order to get the best understanding of it all I need to dig into it more and operate my own on a much more personal level, so here we go.... enjoy! Get inspired! Check this video out!
